Join a leading global engineering consultancy with a strong reputation in delivering innovative solutions across the mining and resources sector. Seeking a Principal with a specialization in the design, development, and implementation of materials handling systems, including conveyors, crushers, and chutes for some of the largest iron ore and mining operations in Australia.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be the company focal point for materials handling and lead a team of experts, working on high-impact projects.
You will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise across materials handling projects. This role is critical to driving the growth and success of our engineering team as we continue to deliver exceptional solutions for our mining clients.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage the design, development, and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions for materials handling systems (conveyors, crushers, chutes). Provide technical input and leadership on engineering studies, concept design, detailed design, and project execution. Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, and other discipline leads to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. Engage with clients, acting as a trusted advisor to identify and anticipate their needs while maintaining strong relationships. Drive business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities and supporting tender submissions. Ensure compliance with industry standards, QA procedures, and health and safety regulations. Mentor and develop junior engineers to build technical capability within the team. About You :
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Over 15 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on mining and materials handling projects. Strong knowledge of bulk materials handling equipment. Proven track record in leading complex engineering projects, from concept through to execution. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to foster client relationships and manage multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with relevant Australian and international engineering standards and regulations.
