The primary purpose of the role is to provide a high level of hands-on support to the Director in delivering consolidated strategic budget advice, budgetary information, forward financial analysis and insights, and other related financial management services, ensuring information is provided to the highest quality.Your role as a Principal Management Accountant (AO7) within the Consolidated Budget Services team is critical for the Department of Energy and Climate in navigating its strategic priorities while adhering to compliance requirements and external demands. This role provides valuable support to the Chief Finance Officer's discharge of responsibilities.As the Principal Management Accountant, you will:Assist the Director, Consolidated Budget Services by:Providing expert guidance and advice on a range of financial budget-related matters through strategic thinking, critical analysis, and problem-solving.Researching and preparing complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence on a range of budget, financial, and other corporate issues.Monitoring activities of the team to ensure its deliverables are achieved to the highest quality and within strict internal and external timelines.Leading and/or contributing towards activities as directed.Actively help manage and contribute to the planning, coordination, and preparation of the departmental annual and mid-year budget and funding submission processes, including managing the timetable, providing divisional access to this team's Sharepoint site, preparing packs for the Director-General, and managing the submission loads into the Treasury system.Coordinate and engage in the annual budget paper and estimate processes, including managing the timetables, submitting content into the Treasury systems, preparing briefing notes seeking content endorsement, and preparing and validating Estimates Committee briefs.Proactively provide operational delivery of quality and timely financial management and budgetary reporting and advice to the Director and Chief Finance Officer, on a range of complex and diverse issues.Support the team managers with complex and time-critical deliverables, including the monthly departmental finance report for the Executive Management Team, the capital report, and monthly reporting to State Development, Treasury requests including the department's annual 'Unforeseen' expenditure return, and the AASB15 actuals to budget comparison and Appropriation Note 2 for the annual financial statements.Demonstrate effective leadership and project management skills to ensure the timely completion of assigned deliverables.Develop and maintain strong and respectful working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders through actively participating in meetings and following through with meeting outcomes.Facilitate and ensure compliance with relevant Government legislation, directives, accounting standards, and departmental policies and procedures in relation to budget, financial, administrative and other corporate and operational issues, and update departmental documentation to align with any relevant changes.Join our team and be part of our legacy.
