About the opportunity There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
This position can be located in the Geraldton Area or a DPIRD office in a regional location in WA.
We are seeking to appoint a Principal Local Content Adviser (Statewide). As the Principal Local Content Adviser, you will assist with the coordination and leadership of the Local Content Adviser Network Statewide, Multi Regional and Major Projects program.
The program aims to maximise local supplier, contractor and employment opportunities by:
Connecting regionally based businesses to procurement and contracting opportunities, Increase access to information and resources and working to assist business with capacity and capability building programs and services. Increase our influence within the procurement functions of Government Agencies, GTEs and their Head Contractors Work across industry and Government to ensure local businesses are capable, competitive and sustainable Proactively contribute to Australian and WA State Government Local Content policy, frameworks and direction Maximise Local Content outcomes through any available forward procurement and project planning information sources Keep advancing knowledge and understanding of Local Content as a legitimate regional economic development approach. In this role you also support, guide and mentor Local Content Advisers working across regional WA, in order to ensure consistent, professional and responsive delivery.
About you We are looking for individuals with:
Demonstrated exposure to the civil construction, building and maintenance industry in a regional environment, and ideally, knowledge of procurement and contract management practices. Project planning and delivery skills, to be able to anticipate challenges in advance, and an ability to devise locally appropriate solutions to assist suppliers with business capability and capacity issues. Experience in Small to Medium Enterprise development and support will be considered highly desirable.
