An exciting new opportunity exists for a Principal to join and lead the team at Norfolk Island Central School. A critical role of the success of the school and the community for a three year placement.
We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Principal to lead the existing workforce. As Norfolk Island is a very close knit community you will not only be a critical part of the success of the school, but be able to demonstrate commitment to supporting strong community engagement activities.
The successful applicant will contribute towards and be accountable for the provision of all educational services at Norfolk Island Central School.
Norfolk Island Central School is located on Norfolk Island, approximately 1400km east of Byron Bay in the South Pacific. The school is fully funded by the Commonwealth of Australia and has operated as a NSW Department of Education school up until the Queensland Department of Education commenced delivery of educational services from 2022. The school prides itself on a high quality delivery of educational services for the approximately 300 students in P-12.
Our school motto is 'Play the Game', and we take great pride in delivering quality educational and wellbeing outcomes for our students. The game we play is underpinned by our school values of respect, responsibility, resilience and honesty. Our school works in partnership with our community to provide a broad ranging curriculum encompassing educational, sporting and cultural experiences. Norfolk Island's unique historical traditions are valued, and we support the maintenance of Norfolk Island culture for future generations through the teaching of Norf'k Language and Culture in P-10. Staff work with significant levels of dedication and commitment, to serve our students and community.
The staff collectively drive ongoing improvements through a focus on leadership for collaborative practice in assessment as well as in data skills and use. We strive to embed a culture of Instructional Leadership that will assist all stakeholders in moving forward.
Your role
To join the leadership team in the role of Principal, the following knowledge, skills and attributes will be essential:

Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Be an active participant in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
Futures oriented and strategic.
Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling, given operates in a different jurisdiction and legislative framework to that of Queensland.
Manage resources to achieve goals.
