An exciting, temporary opportunity has become available for a Principal of Thornton State School, commencing 20 January 2025. As the Principal of Thornton State School, you will play a vital role in delivering the vision of the department.

The leadership role of Principal is critical to improving the educational outcomes of students in their schools. The Principal has a major influence on developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

About Thornton State School Our school is located next to a creek that runs between two mountain ranges. It is a picturesque drive up our valley, which takes approximately 20 minutes from Laidley.
We have two separate buildings splitting the composite classes for Prep to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6.
The school curriculum is supported by weekly visits from the teachers of The Arts, Physical Education and Japanese (Year 5 and 6 students).
About the Role You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Uphold the principalship as a values-based, ethical and moral activity.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Active participants in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.Futures-oriented and strategic.Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.Manage resources to achieve goals.A mandatory requirement of this role is: Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
