Mount Surprise State School is located in a remote community in far north Queensland. We provide a warm and friendly environment for students to learn and grow. Students from Kindy to Year 6 work alongside each other in our multi-level classroom. In a town high on community spirit, we aim high academically and socially. At Mount Surprise every student learns every day. We provide the Australian Curriculum and ensure all students access learning and content to their year level and in consideration of their needs and abilities. Underneath the strong academic focus lies a foundation of social emotional learning. Students are taught how to learn and are supported to develop lifelong learning skills. About the Role: As the Principal you will:
Deliver the vision of the department.Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools.Develop the quality of teaching and learning.Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Active participants in life long learning and ongoing professional development.Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.Futures oriented and strategic.This position is for 23 January 2025 to 12 December 2025.
