Principal Lawyer | Native Title | Leadership Role Full Time | Fixed-Term Contract | Brisbane Salary: $225,000 (neg dep on exp) + Super + Vehicle + Salary Sacrificing Options About the Role Our client, a leading not-for-profit organisation, is seeking a Principal Lawyer to head their legal services division.
This is a unique opportunity for a senior legal professional with experience in Native Title law , Cultural Heritage law , and corporate governance to take a leadership role.
Based in Brisbane , you will provide strategic legal advice while managing a high-performing team.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about making an impact within the Indigenous and First Nations communities .
Key Responsibilities Provide high-level legal advice on Native Title , Cultural Heritage , and related matters.
Lead and mentor a legal team, ensuring the delivery of top-tier legal services.
Oversee legal strategies for native title claims , compensation applications , and agreements .
Collaborate with the Executive Management Team to deliver on strategic goals.
Represent the organisation in significant legal forums and government negotiations .

About You This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Lawyer or Senior Legal Practitioner with a passion for working in the fields of Native Title , Cultural Heritage , and corporate law .
You will have strong leadership capabilities and the ability to navigate complex legal and political environments.
Key Requirements Qualified legal practitioner with a current Practicing Certificate to practice in Queensland or ability to rapidly acquire one.
Extensive experience in Native Title law , cultural heritage , and corporations law .
Proven leadership experience, managing a legal team in a high-performing environment .
Strong litigation experience , including court appearances and drafting legal documents.
Excellent negotiation skills in commercial agreements and legal disputes .
A commitment to Indigenous self-determination and advocacy for First Nations people .
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including some weekends.
