Job type: Full time / Fixed term until 28 March 2025 Organisation: Health Occupation: Regulatory Governance and Compliance Reference: VG/1820628 Job posted: 17/09/2024 Closes: 02/10/2024 Classification: VPSG6 Salary Range: $134,593 - $180,115 The MHWC is an accountability body in the mental health and wellbeing system established under the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (the Act) and recommended by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System. The MHWC responsibilities include the following: Monitor and report on the performance, quality and safety of the mental health and wellbeing system. Hold government to account with the ability to initiate its own inquiries into matters that support its objectives; handle and investigate complaints about mental health and wellbeing service delivery. Monitor government's progress in reforming the system and ensuring the system meets the expectations of people with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress, their families, carers and supporters. Exemplify and enable lived experience leadership.

About the role:

The Principal Investigator leads a specialist team of senior investigation officers and manages the effective delivery of investigations and reviews of complex complaints about safety and quality issues in mental health services, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, processes and standards. The Principal Investigator reports to the General Counsel, Legal Services and works closely with the Assistant Commissioner, Complaints and Resolutions Team.

A confident and persuasive communicator who can build effective relationships with stakeholders when dealing with sensitive and complex matters. Positive and passionate about making a difference, with demonstrated skill in working in ways that are driven by the lived experiences of consumers, families and carers. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills.
