About the Role:As Principal Inspector, you will oversee verification of effective risk management and incident prevention strategies implemented in the NSW mining industry through management of site inspections, assessments, investigations of incidents and complaints, application of compliance powers, consultation, and education. You will be leading a team of specialised inspectors, responsible for:Mining Engineering.Explosives Engineering.Occupational Hygiene.You'll also manage key outcomes such as:High Risk Activity applications and verifications.Exemption applications.Mining Engineering based licensing and assessments.Occupational hygiene incident notifications, licensing and assessments.Explosives licensing and assessments.Plus, develop and implement industry engagement events. This role covers a large area of NSW, so travel is a must.To be successful you'll need to have sound knowledge of:Mining and work health and safety related legislation.Technology, systems and practices applied in mining.Auditing methodologies.You'll also need to:Be able to work on weekends and backshifts and respond to incidents out of normal business hours on a rostered basis.Hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence.Be able to exercise leadership given a large geographical area containing a diverse range of mining operations, people, and working conditions.Have the confidence to make decisions on challenging technical problems and enforcement actions in an environment of incomplete information, where there are potentially significant economic and safety consequences to be weighed up.Things to Know About the Role:Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory participation in a pre-employment health assessment.
