We currently have a great career opportunity for a Principal Hydrogeologist to be part of our NSW / APAC business and have flexibility to be based out of either the Newcastle, Sydney or Wollongong offices. We have a strong pipeline of work and a focus on technical excellence and strong client relationships. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and closely with other SLR environmental specialists. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power, with a focus on resource projects. The role is diverse and provides a great opportunity for the right person to mentor a team, provide technical leadership, and drive innovative and sustainable project solutions for our clients. As a senior member of our team you will play a key role in winning and delivering a diverse range of projects and providing mentorship to our less experienced staff. About the role and what you need to succeed Key skills and specialist technical areas: Thorough understanding and application of NSW groundwater related legislation and guidelines as applied to resource, development and infrastructure projects Working knowledge of other relevant National and New South Wales groundwater legislation and policies, standards and guidelines Knowledge of numerical hydrogeological modelling would be highly regarded but is not essential, particularly using MODFLOW-USG code, but not mandatory Project management experience particularly in managing large technical projects and within the resource sector. Overseeing junior staff preparing quality reports for internal and external clients on time and within set budgets Contributing to winning work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your client relationships Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships with our key clients to maintain and grow SLRs brand in the region. Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Manager's on projects regarding best principles and practices To be successful in this role Our ideal candidate will have between 12-20 year's + industry experience, including experience within a consultancy group, and have: Appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification and relevant groundwater industry experience Demonstrated experience managing large hydrogeology or related multidisciplinary projects Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team Excellent communication skills and technical report writing Demonstrated experience working with and successfully mentoring junior staff A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships Experience or understanding of the broader water market in particular surface water resources would also be highly regarded.
