Principal House Officer - Medical OncologyThe Medical Oncology Unit are looking for a Principal House Officer to join their team. The Medical Oncology Principal House Officer will be directly involved in the assessment and management of in-patient and ambulatory patients (day ward and outpatients) under the supervision of consultant medical oncology staff.

About the Role Fulfil the accountabilities and responsibilities of this role in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives.A suitable candidate for this position will be in the process of completing or completed basic physicians training within the RACP and would preferably have an interest in Medical Oncology.Staffing and budget responsibilities: Facilitate budget and compliance by the efficient and effective use of resources.The following positions report to the Principal House Officer/Registrar: Junior House Officer and Senior House Officer.Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care.Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals by assessing patients and determining appropriate investigations.Establish management plans for patients in consultation with the consultant.Where appropriate, ensure discharge planning commences early in the process of care.Communicate assessment findings, proposed management plans and alternatives to patients and carers and seek consent.Gather input from appropriate multidisciplinary team for patient's ongoing clinical care.Continually monitor and review patient progress and adjust the management plan when necessary.Find out about the role in more detail and how to apply in the attached Role Description.
