The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be the technical subject-matter expert (SME) assisting the Group Technical Services team managing open pit mining and geotechnical standards at Evolution's mining assets.
About the role This role is responsible for aligning with strategic goals, driving operational excellence through technical and economic analysis, and providing technical support to meet asset priorities.
Maintain ownership of the Group geotechnical Standards. Work with site teams and group finance to assist with the group view of the yearly Budget. Assist with opportunities for step change and improvement to drive value accretion across the business. Contribute to the development of new projects and provide guidance on required levels of Geotechnical test work and budget. Assist with mentoring and coaching for the development of geotechnical and mining teams across the group. Contribute, assist and lead with the quarterly Geotechnical Community of Practice. Foster collaborative, productive relationships within the team and across the organisation with other teams. Provide technical support to growth activities, including due diligence, opportunity & risk assessment, and potential integration relating to M&A activities. About you To succeed in this position, you will have proven experience in geotechnical engineering in the gold processing and extraction sector. It is also important that you have or can demonstrate:
Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent (Mining, Civil, Geology). Post graduate qualifications in related discipline highly regarded. Member of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy or similar professional affiliation. Demonstrable industry experience communicating and developing geotechnical concepts and personnel. Proven experience in open pit or underground + open pit, preferably within the gold sector (hard rock at minimum). Proven experience at group or in a consulting role across geotechnical accountability. Minimum 15 years' experience as a Geotechnical Engineer in a supervisory role. Consulting Experience. Post graduate degree in Geomechanics an advantage. Previous 10 years plus open pit experience in the Mining Industry - preferable Gold.
