Details: Located in the Gungahlin network, Franklin School is a P-6 school with approximately 545 students. The school vision is to create confident and involved learners, who have a strong sense of identity and wellbeing. Students are engaged in an environment where learning is dynamic, fun, challenging and focuses on success and achievement. The current school priorities are to improve spelling, reading and writing for all students, improve mathematical outcomes and maintain strong student levels of wellbeing.
Franklin's school philosophy and values are implemented through the curriculum and pedagogy. The curriculum represents extensive coverage of the Australian Curriculum content descriptors, achievement standards and general capabilities. The programs complement the skills, behaviours and attributes that students need to succeed in life and work in the twenty first century.
Franklin's learning programs are delivered through an integrated learning model where genuine and authentic, real connections can be made. Integrated inquiry units are described using the language of Big Understanding to define the inquiry and Key Questions to further prompt learning experiences.
There is a strong sense of community at Franklin School. Staff work continually to build and improve on partnerships with local businesses and services that support the community and improve educational outcomes for students. Programs and groups for students and families are run in the designated community room, examples of these include playgroup, wellbeing groups for students, Circle of Security Parenting Program, Tuning into Kids Parenting Program and community get-togethers.
With a strong focus on wellbeing for both students and families, the school partners with organisations to provide relevant programs and services. Partnership organisations help needs such as targeted literacy support and wellbeing programs for students. Partner organisations include Libraries ACT, ACT Playgroup and Story Dogs ACT.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Prior to commencing in this role a minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification; a current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) and a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
