Communicate and connect effectively with First Nations peoples, applying good understanding of cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective and knowledge of cultural protocols and cultural practices. Provide expert advice and support to the QPS Leadership teams on operational plans for First Nations engagement and partnerships.TARGETED VACANCY - This is an identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by a First Nations person as permitted by and arguable under Section 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).Led by an Executive Director, our team includes First Nations members who bring extensive policing and cultural knowledge, and through their passion and lived experiences, drive transformative change.As a key First Nations representative within the QPS, you will provide cultural leadership to drive cultural awareness to ensure the QPS acts with integrity in accordance with First Nations cultural protocols.You will build, maintain and nurture productive communication and cooperation among operational police, senior QPS management, First Nations Elders, respected community leaders, First Nations organisations and government agencies. The goal is to offer cultural guidance that supports the implementation and delivery of the QPS Reframing the Relationship Plan.The core capability requirements for this role are:• Communicate and connect effectively with stakeholders to deliver QPS Reframing the Relationship outcomes in line with expectations, local engagement, and refined service delivery.• Support QPS Senior and Executive leadership teams by advocating, influencing, and strengthening the cultural safety and capability of the organisation through the delivery of culturally informed activities.• Develop cultural engagement concepts and proposals for specific regions to support the implementation of First Nations initiatives and perspectives across the QPS.• Investigate, analyse, interpret and evaluate information pertaining to First Nations issues to inform decision making for the QPS Reframing the Relationship outcomes, development of operational plans, new initiatives, amendments to current approaches and change management.• Support operational areas to develop and nurture relationships by strengthening and implementing QPS's commitment to First Nations strategies through the development of specific cultural inductions for all police members commencing duty in discrete First Nations communities and Torres Strait Islands.• Provide support and perspective across areas including HR recruitment and retention and Policy and Legislation reform, contributing to better outcomes for First Nations peoples and First Nations Recruit Preparation Pathway (FNRPP).• Prepare and deliver high-level advice, reports, submissions, briefing materials and correspondence for QPS Leadership teams and senior management.Role Requirements:Mandatory:• This is an identified position.
