With a strong pipeline of work in Eastern Australian & New Zealand, we currently have an exciting opportunity in Brisbane for a Principal Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section.
As a Principal Environmental Scientist in the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section, you will take an active role in leading the delivery of projects.
This will include technical guidance for mid-level and junior staff in order to support the successful execution of projects.
You will seek to provide mentoring to more junior staff in relation to the broad skills required of a consultant, both technical and softer skills.
You will take an active role in business development, responsible for building client relationships that secure repeat work and new work that supports your own personal pipeline as well as that of others in the team.
More specifically, this role will include the following tasks that will be performed with support from other members of the team as appropriate: Overseeing the effective planning and execution of complex projects.
You will provide technical guidance to support other on such projects as well as perform the role of Project Director and client-facing roles where appropriate.
You will be supported by other senior technical and project delivery leaders and you will support more junior members of the team.
You will have an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory framework and technical elements of the contaminated land sector within your State or Territory, and a familiarity with the corresponding elements in other regions.
You will take an active role in developing others to build these skills amongst the broader group in your State or Territory as appropriate.
You will provide guidance and direction on complex pursuits, and in some instances lead such pursuits.
You will be supported by other senior leaders as required in the pursuit of our larger and more complex opportunities.
You will provide informal leadership to the broader Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section as well as collaborate with other Sections within our broader business to help deliver successful project outcomes for our clients.
You will also contribute towards the growth of our capacity, resilience and technical offering within your State or Territory.
Here's what you'll need You'll need a tertiary qualification in either Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology but just as important will be your personal attributes.
You'll be as committed as we are to improving the world we live in, seizing the environmental challenges that we all face and coming up with solutions that will benefit generations to come.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences and professional or consultancy experience Extensive work experience in consulting is advantageous, particularly within the field of contaminated land assessment, or having had any prior involvement in preparing technical reports.
An appreciation of other environmental consultancy disciplines e.g., ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, and cultural heritage would be advantageous.
Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget, while leading and motivating teams to exceed client expectations.
Provided training and mentorship to junior staff while offering substantial project management support to the team.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and familiarity with videoconferencing practices.
Strong attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to contaminated land assessment Jacobs.
