About the role
At the Public Transport Authority (PTA), we believe in creating a sustainable future through managing our business in an environmentally responsible manner. As a Principal Environment Officer, you will work across the organisation to ensure that our operations adhere to the highest environmental standards. Your work will support the PTA to plan, operate and maintain its operational sites and facilities paving the way for a healthier, safer environment for future generations.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced environmental professional who thrives on tackling complex challenges and delivering impactful solutions to join our collaborative team where we succeed by working safely, being curious and having fun. A tertiary qualification in environmental science, management, or a related field and your ability to lead a team of environmental professionals are essential in this role.
In this role, you will lead our Operational Support Team providing guidance to team members and fostering a positive and cooperative team spirit. You will coordinate the provision of compliance and assurance activities at the PTA's operational sites and facilities and collaborate with our operational business units to continuously improve the PTA's environmental performance and make a lasting impact.
About You!
To excel in this position, you should possess:
Leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop staff, and foster strong working relationships within a team.
Proven knowledge and experience in environmental management and application of environmental legislation.
A customer focussed mindset and an ability to collaborate with stakeholders to drive environmental and social outcomes.
Proven performance in the preparation and management of budgets.
