You'll play a significant part of the future of a business that has been around for over 200 years. Our purpose is to create better futures together. So, we'll back you in the development of your career, internal career prospects, and flexible working. You'll also keep learning to grow your career, backed by a fantastic team of people with a can-do, supportive structure. What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have strong engineering experience across various technology stacks, with a comprehensive understanding of all relevant concepts. Your background will include working on significant transformation programs, preferably within the banking sector. You should feel at ease discussing topics with engineers, ranging from RDBMS to modern cloud and NoSQL databases. Equally, you will be able to transition seamlessly into conversations about Java and microservices and engage with another squad on the merits of react.js versus next.js.
While you may not be coding full-time, you will be someone who still enjoys coding in your personal time and likely has experience as an architect at some point in your career. Your extensive experience will be paired with a humble attitude; you will know how to listen to your talented team, recognising when to let them take the lead, when to redirect their efforts and when to halt a particular approach. You will play a key role in developing our "engineering practice," understanding that engineering encompasses design and test, not just coding.
In your past you would have served as a technical lead, promoted beyond coding due to your exceptional communication and leadership skills and your ability to see the bigger picture.
