Position Overview We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer with substantial experience in Power System Studies. This role is crucial to driving forward our projects, ensuring technical excellence, and fostering innovation. The successful candidate will lead efforts in power system analysis, drive technical research, and develop solutions that address critical industry challenges.
In this role you'll prepare, review and sign off detailed technical reports and serve as technical lead and/or reviewer for consulting engagements within the Power Networks service offering. You will also develop consulting proposals and their components as well as supporting the General Manager in business development activities by presenting PSC capabilities to existing and prospective clients.
You will be managing deliverables, schedules and budgets for client projects and studies, developing & delivering client presentations and keeping clients regularly updated, always managing expectations. You will coordinate workflows with colleagues around the world and you will mentor, coach and develop junior engineers. You'll be able to lead and carry out study projects across the generation, transmission and distribution sectors, including load flow, short circuit and stability analysis.
Key Responsibilities Develop and validate advanced models for power system simulations using tools like PSSE, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, among others. Conduct and oversee feasibility studies for integrating renewable and conventional generation systems. Guide the preparation of detailed technical reports and ensure their alignment with client objectives and standards. Lead comprehensive power system studies including load flow, transient and small-signal stability, and fault analysis. Engage with international teams to coordinate multi-faceted projects from inception to completion. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, managing expectations and delivering solutions. High level client and project leadership. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 10 years of experience in power system studies with a focus on strategic and renewable projects. Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems. Expertise in using industry-standard simulation software such as PSS/e, PSCAD or Powerfactory, with Python or C++ scripting experience. Track record of leading projects and delivering solutions in a client-focused and collaborative manner. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges. Location and Travel This position allows for remote work arrangements with occasional travel requirements. Candidates should be prepared to travel up to 10% of the time, primarily within Australia. Our offices are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide.
