Principal Engineer – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD This position will provide expert structural and civil engineering advice and knowledge for the practical life cycle asset management of structures within Western Power's transmission network, including transmission substations and poles and towers' structural assets (including day-to-day operations). In addition, the position will provide technical leadership to Western Power and external stakeholders to drive the development and application of best practices of structures.
Your Role in Action Provide detailed high level technical knowledge and expertise on all structural/ civil issues and assets on the Distribution and Transmission networks. The span of responsibility includes the development of relevant asset management practices and inspection programs.Lead root cause failure investigations into structural asset failure and provide findings and recommendations for the management of the Poles and Towers structural assets.Provide engineering and technical leadership and input into commercial decisions to assist in balancing cost and asset management considerations.Demonstrated collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; cross organisational barriers to achieve individual asset or asset systems performance objectives.Assess and manage network and asset risks, obligations and incentives within a regulatory framework.Monitor and analyse the performance of in service assets or systems of assets with respect to defined asset performance objectives.Identify continuous improvement opportunities and actions for the life cycle management of assets or systems of assets to meet defined asset performance objectives.Guide the effective deployment of continuous improvement practices and technologies across the team.What Makes You a Great Fit Tertiary qualified with a university degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or has an alternative engineering degree but is able to demonstrate sufficient work experience in working within the Structural/ Civil engineering field.Eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.15+ years comprehensive and in depth knowledge and expertise gained through widespread power utility experience within the structural/ civil engineering field.Knowledge and understanding of recognised Asset Management Frameworks and systems.Excellent knowledge of engineering standards and regulations in structural/ civil issues and assets.By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future.
