You'll be working on building out innovative greenfield health apps with the purpose of building out preventative health and well-being applications that benefit society.
The business operates like a start-up within a corporate. It innovates and moves quickly, and operates on a continuous feedback loop with customers, product, and engineering to build high-quality applications.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be a critical piece of this puzzle by utilizing your strong ability to communicate and influence other stakeholders during the SDLC. You will also be developing software in a true full-stack role where you will have touch points across front end, back end, and building on top of AWS Cloud infrastructure. These apps deploy across web and mobile, so you'll have multiple touchpoints with other engineers in these teams.
The team you will be joining is a total of 5, including this role, and consists of a Senior Engineer, Engineer, Delivery Manager, and Lead Product Engineer.
Tech stack: Full stack JavaScript, Node/React, NextJS, ExpressJS are the key tech. Also, experience with building applications on AWS.
Key aspects of the role: Use your skills to communicate and translate tech speak to non-tech stakeholders and vice versa.Demonstrate a level of commercial and business acumen and have a holistic view on how the software and systems integrate and are built and how they impact the end user/customers.Influence other members on the team on coding standards and best practices (however, this is not a management role).Develop and build relationships with 3rd party vendors to deliver this project.Hands-on technical development is part of your day-to-day; you will lead by example of best practices and act as a lighthouse for delivering quality end-to-end software and systems.You will use your knowledge to understand and navigate the architecture of products and work hand in hand with the Lead Product Engineer and the team to ensure the delivery of the platform.This may be a great opportunity for someone who is a technical/team lead looking to move into the Principal Role or someone who has been a staff/lead/Principal engineer in another environment and is looking for something a bit different.
What it's not is a Principal in large-scale or corporate; rather, it is a smaller business unit that operates like a startup. It may also be a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a truly flexible and inclusive environment.
It's a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne; it is a truly hybrid working environment with no mandated days in the office, but the team makes a conscious effort to be in there two days a week. They are also a very inclusive employer and we encourage people of all backgrounds and genders to apply.
It's paying a salary that is between $170,000 - $190,000 including super + Bonus and other benefits.
