As a Principal Engineer in the Commercial & Industrial Customers (C&I) Energy Solutions Team, you will represent the senior technical leadership within the Energy Solutions engineering team and drive technical excellence within the engineering team while ensuring successful and safe implementation of all Commercial Energy Solutions (e.g. Commercial Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Stand-alone power systems etc.) to create profitability for the business and great customer experiences. You will also provide technical guidance, coaching, mentoring, and quality assurance to the Engineering team members and relevant internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll be doing: Developing and driving a deep understanding of engineering design and development practices, including utilisation of technologies, and tools as well as maintaining a current knowledge of key technologies and technological advances relevant to energy solution projects including consultation with technical peers at technology manufacturers.Providing technical expertise and being the principal point of escalation for the wider project engineering team, to work through and provide advice on project design, construction and commissioning related issues.Maintaining a current understanding of grid connection technical requirements and feedback those learnings into the business to ensure projects are compliant with grid connection requirements.Promoting the technical and project capabilities of the team to external and internal clients to broaden and penetrate the client base ensuring financial viability of the business as well as maintaining and developing key client linkages.Contributing to increasing the competency and effectiveness levels of engineering team members in designing and commissioning energy solutions through the development of design and technical support tools and training, including conducting team and small group training periodically.Ensuring corrective or improvement actions arising from incident investigations or proactive HSE activities are closed out within the agreed timeframes and supporting the HSE function in the delivery of initiatives designed to uplift safety outcomes.What you'll bring: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline (holds or is in the process of obtaining Chartered Engineering Status with Engineers Australia), ideally with project engineering and leader or mentor experience and SAA grid connect solar PV design accreditation.Demonstrated success in technical designs and accurate project cost for EPC projects including engineering, equipment, civils & installation coupled with a working knowledge of energy solution construction methodologies and the design and engineering trade-offs that impact solution construction.Ability to develop solution scope and design and articulate the solutions and its benefits to internal stakeholders and customers including attention to detail with a specific ability to value engineer technical solutions.Knowledge of required design and modelling packages such as Helioscope, PVsyst, Auto-CAD, HOMER, GridCog.Strong organisational capability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver on conflicting priorities, and a demonstrated commitment to a culture of health and safety.Inclusion at AGL At AGL, we value diversity and welcome applicants from various backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals with disabilities, culturally diverse individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
