We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Data to join the School of Communication, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice.The QUT Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC) is currently seeking applicants for the position of Principal Engineer, Data. The position is a key role in leading the design and development of the Australian Internet Observatory (AIO). The Australian Internet Observatory is a new, four-year national research infrastructure initiative that will create an interconnected ecosystem of people, data, and tools to support innovative approaches to the collection and analysis of digital social data across a range of disciplines and sectors.What you need to succeedEducation, training, and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications and relevant experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another relevant quantitative field.Highly developed technical problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of a complex problem and provide solutions; and strong analytical skills and an ability to perform root cause analysis.Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative research context on software development, data analysis, or similar technical projects, preferably following Agile methodologies.Demonstrated methodical approach to developing and documenting software, data, and data products, including using modern code management practices.Demonstrated knowledge in applying empirical research methods and techniques to the design, development, and evaluation of web/software solutions, evidenced through publication or other equivalent outputs.Proven experience in the presentation of project outcomes and technical solutions to generalist audiences.Life at QUTWe're committed to building a culture that fosters connection between people and purpose.
