In the role of Principal Engineer (Civil), you will be working in the corridor management team and will be responsible for protecting the existing and future State-controlled road network against adverse impacts development activities and from other works carried out in the road.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Lead the corridor management activities using internal and external resources, to ensure the outputs are prepared to the required technical standards. Lead and provide high-level technical guidance and direction for third-party access, activity and encroachments on state-controlled roads; to ensure that the impacts minimised and are compatible with existing and future road transport infrastructure. Provide high-level policy, planning and engineering guidance into all stages of civil construction projects, to meet client requirements and outcomes. Provide guidance to others in developing realistic planning, design and construction solutions that meet relevant standards and guidelines. Provide technical direction to a workforce of professional and technical staff working in diverse activities to ensure that appropriate technical standards are applied and that the department's strategic objectives are pursued. Provide professional advice and expertise to department's technical specialists. Liaise with local government and consultants regarding transport and land use planning activities within the region and to other units in the department relating to the application of policies and procedures of corridor management. Provide technical expertise and advice to Corridor and Land Management relating to development impact and access assessments. Organise consultation and maintain appropriate and effective liaison and communication with the community, local government and industry groups, corridor management and network administration activities within the region. Prepare ministerial correspondence and briefing notes on development and other corridor management matters. Provide effective leadership to the Corridor Access Team, including mentoring and coaching. Undertake any other engineering duties as directed which are within the employee's skills, competency and training. Mandatory qualifications and conditions: A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks. Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position. Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role. Current Queensland 'C' class Drivers Licence.
