TMR Central Queensland Region:
With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km², approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

Key responsibilities: In the role of Principal Engineer (Civil), you will manage transport infrastructure safety and operations, road infrastructure planning and/or delivery of programs and projects. You will also provide specialist technical expertise to project activities through effective leadership to project managers on design, construction, maintenance, and operation of road networks. The purpose of this position is to manage heavy vehicle activities on the road network and inform road safety initiatives.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Manage and co-ordinate the processing of Heavy Vehicle and Oversize and Overmass permits. Manage and co-ordinate the Fatal Crash Site investigation process and support the development of Targeted Road Safety Program submissions. Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved. Supervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives. Identifying and maintaining appropriate and effective liaison and communication with networks and alliances of stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of customer-focused outcomes whilst ensuring the continued and/or improved safety and efficiency of the road network. Mandatory qualifications and conditions: A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks. Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position. A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.
