We're seeking an experienced and skilled Civil Engineer to take on this exciting role based in Cairns. If you're looking for a permanent position that lets you contribute to a variety of civil engineering projects in the Far North, this opportunity is for you.
This role is within TMR Far North District's Project Planning and Corridor Management – Corridor Management team. This role will enable you to have a significant impact on infrastructure projects and drive meaningful outcomes for community within Queensland's Far North. The Corridor Management team is a business-critical function for TMR, responsible for managing the developments and third-party activities that may have an impact on the State-controlled Road and corridor.
The teams remit includes:
assessing and conditioning TMR's interests and requirements on Development Approvals impacting State-Controlled Road reserveworking with customers and third parties requesting access to the State[1]controlled Road reserves to ensure the functionality and operation of the corridors are not adversely impactedassessing applications for heavy vehicle permits and traffic control permits on State-controlled Roads.Your role:
As a Principal Engineer (Civil), you'll oversee TMR guidance for government entities on development applications affecting the State-controlled Road (SCR) network. You'll offer specialised technical support to both internal and external parties for activities within the SCR corridor, while also leading transport infrastructure planning projects as a project manager. Additionally, you'll supervise team members, ensuring efficient workload management and performance.
Your responsibilities:
Provide advanced engineering guidance, coordination, and approval for developer projects within or affecting the SCR network.Offer high-level engineering and project management skills for effective corridor management and project planning. Provide strategic advice for optimal project outcomes, value, and best practices.Provide engineering input and approval, within delegation, for key permits including heavy vehicle access, public utilities, and road corridor functions.Coordinate resource allocation for district corridor management activities, fostering teamwork and staff development.Demonstrate leadership, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving for successful completion of transport infrastructure projects and third-party development within and adjacent to the SCR network.Qualifications:
Must be eligible to work in Australia.A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by the Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position; however, applications will also be considered if evidence is provided that an assessment for RPEQ has commenced.Current holder of a Class C driver's licenseGenerous employer superannuation contribution - up to 12.75%Five weeks annual recreation leave plus leave loadingReimbursement of professional membership feesRPEQ compensation paymentFlexible work optionsSalary packaging arrangementsHealth and well-being incentivesAssistance with relocation expensesBe a part of something special in North Queensland Region.
