The opportunity:As the Principal Engineer for our AEMS (Advanced Energy Management System), you will lead a team of engineers in developing and implementing a transformative energy management system for Powerlink. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional who can work independently and bring a high level of creativity, innovation, and expertise to our team.
Specifically, you will: Lead a team to solve complex engineering problems and implement new technologies for the Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS)Serve as the primary escalation point for complex issues and make independent engineering decisions with RPEQ oversightDevelop and deliver technical expertise and solutions for AEMS-related design reviews, testing, procurement plans, and project governanceOversee the development and implementation of technical design standards and control system methodologies, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulationsProvide advanced engineering oversight and establish standards for SCADA and AEMS-related workThe people you'll join:Powerlink is launching our new Advanced Energy Management System, laying the foundation for us to become the renewable grid of the future.
This pivotal role, reporting directly to our AEMS Testing and Software Manager, is part of our Energy & Digital Management team. It requires a high degree of originality, ingenuity, judgment, and expertise.
We are seeking passionate professionals to help us deliver cutting-edge technologies that streamline processes, enhance customer experience, and introduce innovative ways of working.
What you'll bring:Degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering, coupled with significant experience within power system control environmentRegistered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)With a robust background in designing, maintaining, constructing, testing, and commissioning control systems, engineering applications, power system operations, and Network Management Systems - you have a proven track record in strategically managing transmission control systems to meet business goals and deliver results.
You possess a strong ability to innovate and recommend advanced methodologies that enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety. Naturally, you demonstrate exceptional leadership skills in building and developing high-performance engineering teams. Proficiency in using SCADA data communication technologies is essential.
You excel in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies, to influence decision-making and drive consensus. With a strong commitment to continuous improvement, you enjoy navigating complex challenges and providing strategic solutions that align with Powerlink's objectives.
