As a Principal Economic Development Officer, you contribute to the State Development team by supporting responsible economic development and building liveable communities. You will connect industry, businesses, community, and government at all levels to create place-based solutions that leverage regional strengths and unlock sustainable growth. Your responsibilities
• Leverage the team's strengths to lead the development and delivery of project plans that will promote industry and regional development, including research and reporting on progress.
• Access data and research new ideas and opportunities that will facilitate industry initiatives, industry clusters and supply chain development.
• Provide briefings, submissions, and other documentation that may be required.
• Leverage your networks to facilitate and assist industry to connect with all levels of Government.
• Support regional leadership and capacity building to deliver on economic priorities of regional communities including the Local Economic Opportunities Network.
• Analyse trends and develop proposals to support policy development relevant to regional services.
• Represent the department at meetings, committees and industry events as required, including building, and maintaining purposeful relationships with a portfolio of clients.
Your team
We want you to be a part of a team that is making a difference by leading industry development and regional programs, aligned to the Departments' strategic plan. This includes initiatives that develop and promote the international competitiveness and capability of Queensland's defense, aerospace, space, superyachts, hydrogen, biofutures, biomedical, mining equipment, technology and services, and resource recovery industries. You will be learning new stuff every day! The State Development regional teams across Queensland coordinate the delivery of initiatives such as departmental programs and workshops, to link industry and regional business and grow regional supply chains and productivity. The regional teams engage with regional stakeholders and works with regional economic development partners to support and advocate for the strategic delivery of regional economic priorities. They lead place-based developments and economic and industry strategies. They are also the Local Economic Opportunities Network (LEO) representatives, and they support state and local governments in responses to adverse events.
