As the peak national organisation for Australia's community HIV response, Health Equity Matters is recognised both globally and nationally for the leadership, policy expertise, health promotion, coordination and support we provide.
Through advocacy, policy and health promotion, we champion awareness, understanding and proactivity around HIV prevention, education, support and research. Health Equity Matters provides a voice for communities affected by HIV and leads the national conversation on HIV.
We advocate for a strong and bold vision to prevent HIV and its impacts, and work with governments, clinicians, researchers and community to achieve that vision.
We contribute internationally to the development of effective policy and program responses to HIV/AIDS at a global level, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, through implementing initiatives to strengthen civil society responses to HIV.
We provide leadership, coordination and support to Australia's policy and advocacy response to HIV and internationally we contribute to the development of effective responses to HIV/AIDS, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.
We do this work in collaboration with our members in accordance with the National HIV Strategy and global directions for the response to HIV.
Our work is directed primarily towards communities where there is a higher prevalence of HIV and groups at greater risk of acquiring HIV.
This includes the groups identified as priority populations in the National HIV Strategy:
people with HIV (PWHIV) gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Culturally and linguistically diverse people from high HIV prevalence countries, people who travel to high-prevalence countries, and their partners Health Equity Matters' vision is a world without HIV, where our communities can enjoy the highest standard of health and wellness, free from stigma and discrimination.

Health Equity Matters Opportunities Principal Director, Australian Program Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the organisation's domestic programming to achieve the virtual elimination of HIV transmission in Australia. As the Principal Director of the Australian Program, you'll implement current programs and develop innovative initiatives aligned with national strategies and engage with member organisations to ensure inclusivity and coordinate activities for impactful outcomes.
