Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The Division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank - from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.
As a Principal Engineer, you'll provide your expertise in data engineering, architecture, and design, working within largely complex product teams. You will hold a passion for providing data-driven solutions, contributing to major set of technical decisions for design and architecture, while constantly defining the technical roadmaps in line with business's strategic goals. You will build our foundations and produce a unique set of data products to deliver enterprise scale frameworks to uplift capabilities of the platform for the future within the Bankwest Technology Division.
Here, you'll be part of a team of engineers going above and beyond to improve the standard of digital banking using the latest tech to solve our customers' most complex data-centric problems. To us, data is everything. It is what powers our cutting-edge features and it is the reason we can provide seamless experiences for millions of customers from app to branch.

Are passionate about building industry leading group data products from scratch using sophisticated data platforms and technical products.
Have passion for providing data-driven solutions, contributing to major set of technical decisions for design and architecture.
Provides trusted advisory data engineering practice at an enterprise level, consulting across platforms, products, and delivery teams.
Are experienced with solution architecture, technology blueprints, and engineering roadmaps for a multi- year data transformational journey.
Provides thought leadership and mentoring on data engineering principles and practices, including holding platform-wide educational sessions.
Facilitates proactive dialogue with senior management and key stakeholders to remove blockers and ensure clear path to execution.
Delivers core technical strategies to achieve business outcomes by acting as a bridge between business and technical teams.
Are well versed in influencing teams across boundaries and connect the dots between programs of work, to ensure faster decision making for organizational wide outcomes.
Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Solid experience with large scale distributed data systems and able to operate in a multi-platform environment.
Expertise with automation and designing software architecture in the Data domain.
Experience with real-time streaming technologies - Kafka, Tableau, APIs.
Proficient with modern languages such as Java, .NET, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
DevOps best practices, CI/CD tooling and implementation.
Data architecture using AWS, and any experience in integration with decisioning systems would be a bonus.
Experience working on green field project highly regarded.
