This is a fantastic opportunity to join us at the outset as a Principal Data Engineer (AS7) and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data at Queensland Rail.
As Principal Data Engineer, you will lead the data engineering capability within the team and enable business teams responsible for enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, machine learning, and digital twin initiatives.
Your work will directly support Queensland Rail in achieving its strategic and operational goals.
We're seeking a talented professional with extensive experience in leading the data engineering capability, and who is passionate about learning and growing their technical expertise in this rapidly evolving space.
We're also looking for Demonstrated experience working as a senior data engineer across cloud and hybrid data engineering technologies, incorporating a range of data centric integration patterns (ETL, CDC, etc.
), data modelling and data management practices (data quality, data governance) on both structured and unstructured data.Previous experience leading and mentoring a team of data professionals to deliver innovative, enterprise data engineering solutions.Extensive knowledge in the design and development of data engineering solutions encompassing data modelling, data integration, and data management components to enable enterprise reporting and data science capabilities.Skilled in working with agile or other iterative development frameworks to drive efficient delivery, continuous improvement, and rapid time to value for the business.Strong communication, consulting, and analytical skills to translate business requirements into data integration solutions using both clear business terms and technical language as required.Ability to work in a complex team environment with data and analytics professionals, diverse business stakeholders, project teams, IT architects and IT Operations.Reasons to join the team Enjoy a leading data engineering position on the team, helping to set the direction and standards for data engineering across the organisation.Queensland Rail has embarked on a transformation journey with data underpinning its strategic objectives.
