An opportunity exists for an AO7 Principal Correspondence Officer in the Department of Education's Strategic Engagement Branch.
The Principal Correspondence Officer is responsible for coordinating correspondence and workflow across the branch and contributing to the operation of the Office of the Assistant Director-General.
This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis for a period of 12 months unless otherwise determined.

About the roleAs the Principal Correspondence Officer, you will:
Provide high level advice and support to the Assistant Director-General and senior officers within the branch with respect to executive documentation, including parliamentary and Cabinet documents.Develop and implement quality assurance processes governing the executive correspondence process.Responsibilities include:
Monitor, coordinate and direct the daily flow of business to and from the Strategic Engagement Branch inbox, in line with priorities set by the Assistant Director-General.Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and requests from within the department, other government agencies, key stakeholders and the public.Draft and edit briefing materials, cabinet submissions, responses to ministerial or departmental correspondence, policy or research papers, and input on departmental or government reporting.Provide advice regarding government and administrative processes, policies and procedures with regards to departmental correspondence and briefing.Assist with corporate services functions including finance and HR as required.Work in a small team to provide support to the Assistant Director-General and Strategic Engagement Branch as a whole.Liaise effectively within Early Childhood and State Schools Division, across the department and with external stakeholders.Our ideal applicant will have the following attributes: Experience in coordination or management of workflows, including managing the preparation of correspondence and requests, or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills.Excellent writing and reviewing skills with great attention to detail.Understanding of government and administrative processes, policies and procedures.Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to operate in an agile environment with multiple competing priorities, while delivering high quality work.To Apply: Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history).Attach a 2-page written statement in response to the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.
