What You Can Expect In This Role: As the Principal Consultant, Health and Wellbeing you will work autonomously and lead the Health and Wellbeing team in the Organisational Culture Unit within the Business and Corporate Services directorate.

You will provide specialist advice and support, of both strategic and operational nature, in respect of all occupational health and wellbeing matters affecting OIR's operations.

You will work in effective partnership with all OIR units to ensure the design and delivery of contemporary best practice and effective health and wellbeing management strategies, plans and programs.

Key Responsibilities Include: Lead the development, coordination and implementation of wellbeing and injury management strategies including the health and wellbeing management policies, procedures, strategies and initiatives to meet OIR's business needs and legislative requirements in the following areas: Workers' compensation and rehabilitation and return to work assistance Incident and injury management OIR's Mentally Healthy Workplaces Strategy Corporate health programs, including employee assistance program Prepare and present documentation including submissions, discussion papers, reports, correspondence and briefing material relating to a range of complex health and wellbeing, and workforce management matters.
Manage a portfolio of high risk and complex health management matters.
Deliver high level consultancy services, advice and recommendations on matters relating to work health and wellbeing, including the effective management of common law claims, complex injury management matters, WorkCover claims, and return to work programs within a complex environment.

Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to mitigate and/or manage risk, including physical and psychological risk, with an aim of reducing workplace related injuries and/or illness across the OIR.
Provide health and wellbeing advice on relevant legislation, awards, policies, directives and practices within the Queensland Public Sector ensuring consistency across the OIR.
Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the Health and Wellbeing team and business unit managers as required.
Build professional client relationships to create working partnerships which will facilitate quality outcomes on human resources, wellbeing and injury management issues.
Represent OIR on inter-departmental meetings, committees and forums relevant to workforce management, health and wellbeing related matters.
In consultation with the Manager Health and Safety compile health and safety management-related reports, detailing relevant WH&S, RRTW and health management data and statistics (including providing analysis and commentary on historical trends, new initiatives, best practice guidelines and advice etc.)
Develop and design health and wellbeing interventions targeting improvement in organisational health with a focus on preventing and reducing the occurrence and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses and the related costs to the organisation.
