Level 7, $128,077 - $136,891 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)This is a permanent full-time position commencing December 2024.The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides administrative and secretariat services for and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment, and standards to enable all students being taught the Western Australian Curriculum to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.The RoleThe School Curriculum and Standards Division is seeking to recruit a qualified, highly motivated and committed Principal Consultant, Examination, Certification and Testing – to be part of a challenging and rewarding education opportunity.The Principal Consultant – Examinations, Certification and Testing, provides professional and strategic management support to the Assistant Executive Director, Examinations, Certification and Testing through the leadership, development, implementation, coordination and management of projects, programs and initiatives. The position provides high level strategic advice in relation to current issues and initiatives and undertakes research, reviews and analyses of organisational policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to Kindergarten to Year 12 curriculum, assessment and certification.The Principal Consultant – Examinations, Certification and Testing, initiates and leads complex projects, including leading project teams to deliver outcomes within budget and agreed timeframes. The position also manages reports on project tasks, progresses risks and issues, and provides advice and recommendations on risk mitigation and process improvements. The position supports the operations of the Examinations, Certification and Testing Directorate, and other business units as required, by ensuring a high level of professional competence is maintained.The Principal Consultant – Examination Certification and Testing will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interesting initiatives drawing on their research, synthesis, critical thinking and high-level communication skills. These initiatives may include the Authority's WACE Refreshment, international education program, information systems, vocational programs, examinations and testing and data analysis and sharing. A background in primary and/or secondary school education would be beneficial but is not mandatory for the successful candidate to undertake this role.Amongst tasks to be undertaken by the Principal Consultant – Examination, Certification and Testing, the successful applicant will provide high level advice, correspondence and briefings for the Minister for Education, Minister for International Education, the Board of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, the Executive Director, School Curriculum and Standards and school systems/sector. The position will also support organising, facilitating and coordinating seminars, school visits and information sessions for staff from schools, regions, professional associations and school systems/sector as required.
