Principal Conciliation Officer (00000241) Fixed term opportunity for up to 12 months with the possibility for extension and/or permanency.
Please also note that this is a part-time role (3 days per week) as a job share arrangement with another staff member also working 3 days per week.

The role Within Consumer Protection, the Conciliation and Trader Intervention Branch undertakes activities to help businesses and consumer resolve disputes.
As the Principal Conciliation Officer, you will be a key people leader in the branch, responsible for leading and managing two conciliation teams, including team resources and activities.
You will work with another Principal Conciliation Officer who also works 3 days per week, to share the leadership responsibilities for the conciliation teams.
Your teams are a diverse, energetic and enthusiastic group of Conciliators working together to achieve great outcomes for Western Australia.
Expertise in the team covers the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), tenancy laws and regulations, retirement villages, residential parks, and motor vehicle matters.
You will feel well supported in this branch, where no day feels the same!
You will lead the teams by overseeing complex dispute resolution activities, including monitoring complaints and disputes, and providing quality assurance and advice.
You will support management in the engagement with peak industry bodies, the community sector, and other agencies to monitor trends in the community, address poor business practices, and support vulnerable consumers.
Importantly, you will help contribute to the branch's strategy and operational plan for complaints management, conciliation and trader intervention, and supporting management to ensure objectives and strategic outcomes are met.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
This position is located in Perth, at 140 William Street.
