Principal Communications and Publications Officer Justice and Attorney-General (Organisation site )Queensland Law Reform Commission; Secretariats Support; Justice Policy and Reform; BrisbaneAs the Principal Communications and Publications Officer, you will lead the QLRC's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy and oversee the finalisation of all external publications. The Principal Communications and Publications Officer reports to the Director of the QLRC.The Queensland Law Reform Commission (QLRC) is an independent statutory body established under the Law Reform Commission Act 1968.The QLRC aims to meet the needs of the Queensland community by reviewing areas of law in need of reform and making law reform recommendations. These recommendations are based on extensive research and analysis, public consultation, and the principles of impartiality, equity and social justice. QLRC reviews have included a range of technical legal, social justice and justice-related topics, including voluntary assisted dying, civil surveillance and privacy, termination of pregnancy, trusts laws and guardianship laws.The QLRC's recommendations are published in its final reports, which are presented to the Attorney-General for tabling in Parliament in accordance with the Act.The QLRC has a full-time Chair and six part-time members (including a Deputy-Chair). The QLRC is supported by a departmental Secretariat comprising an Executive Director, a Director, and a number of Principal Legal Officers, Senior Legal Officers, Legal Officers and Administrative Officers.The QLRC is currently undertaking two reviews: a review of mining lease objections processes and a review of particular criminal defences under the Criminal Code (the criminal defences review).Each review is undertaken by a dedicated review team within the Secretariat.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement the Commission's communication and engagement plans and strategies.Prepare QLRC documents for publication including developing and maintaining Microsoft Word templates, and preparing final documents in InDesign (or equivalent)Working in conjunction with other Secretariat staff, design, develop and produce a broad range of publications including fact sheets, consultation documents and website material.Maintain the QLRC website to ensure currency and accuracy.Draft and coordinate the development and production Commission documents and communications materials, including annual reports, speeches and presentations, media releases and news stories.Develop and manage all proactive and reactive media and social media for the Commission.Provide high level strategic advice to the Director and the Commission on issues relating to media and community engagement.Work with the Secretariat to develop graphics to facilitate effective communication of law reform reviews.Oversee the implementation of communication related aspects of the Commission's First Nations Strategic Plan.Work with the Secretariat to manage the development and implementation of community consultation and engagement activities.Design and implement Commission events such as seminars, webinars and roundtables.Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and proactively identify opportunities for community engagement.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Further information We are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity .Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.Documents Before applying for this vacancy please ensure you read the documents below.KeywordPlease use * for wildcard searches.Search exact phraseCheck to search for the exact phrase.
