This is an opportunity to shape the future of climate-related risk disclosure within BHP and in doing so influence the evolution of climate reporting and disclosure.Reporting to the Head of Climate Policy and Advocacy, this role involves engagement with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and will work closely with the Principal, Climate Risk and Disclosure and colleagues across the Climate Change team, as well as Sustainability, Group Governance, and Investor Relations teams.This role will enable you to utilise your management skills while gaining broad exposure across different parts of the business.
This is an office-based role on a 5/2 roster.In this role, you will:Coordinate and lead preparation for meeting the climate disclosure requirements of incoming regulatory regimes including the AASB, ISSB S2 transposition in other jurisdictions, SEC Climate Rule and EU CSRD.Lead delivery of climate-related content for Annual Reporting suite, related publications (e.g.
Portfolio Analysis report), and works with Communications on associated communications strategy and material (e.g.
media releases, blog posts).Coordinate collation of climate-related information to meet internal needs, including reporting to Vice President, Climate Change.Work closely with data reporting teams in the Assets and Functions to ensure that data is available to support evolving reporting frameworks and qualitative disclosures.Manage input to the monthly ELT Performance Board and updates to progress against Company and ELT Scorecards.Review and edit contributions from across BHP to ensure highest quality disclosures.Support the implementation of BHP's climate change disclosure strategy.Lead annual submission to CDP climate change questionnaires and other investor benchmarks, including providing guidance and review, and managing ELT sign off.Work with Climate program leads in S&CC to support ESG and Investor Relations with investor engagement on climate-related issues.About YouYou will have excellent coordination and written communication skills, and an understanding of climate change and emissions reporting, and how it can be integrated into financial reporting and accounts, as well as broader sustainability issues like water, biodiversity and social value.
You will enjoy driving internal communications and reporting on climate change to employees, senior leaders and the Board, and ensuring delivery of climate change reporting to external stakeholders including through the Annual Report, ad-hoc publications, meetings and website disclosures.To be successful in this role, you will have:Extensive experience managing and delivering multi-stakeholder projects.Demonstrated the ability to write and/or edit material suitable for publication in a range of different formats.Working experience of national and international reporting and accounting frameworks including TCFD, GHG Protocol, SASB and GRI, CA100 NZCB.Demonstrated experience managing all relevant risks in delivering work scopes (operational, strategic, compliance and reporting).Law or accounting degree.Capable of developing and managing project and stakeholder plans and schedules to manage the time, cost and resource allocation for more complex projects with multiple resources.Demonstrated ability to identify key/critical working relationships within and across teams, and promote the effective development of these relationships.Proven ability to utilise functional support (i.e.
HR, Finance, Engineering) to assist with planning and executing changes to systems to better incorporate climate-related reporting.Demonstrated capability in seeking diverse perspectives to gain fresh ways of seeing the world.
