Principal Cabinet and Parliamentary OfficerState Development and Infrastructure

A permanent on-going AO7 Principal Cabinet and Parliamentary Officer within the Cabinet and Parliamentary Services team. You will provide timely, independent, strategic, and operational advice to all stakeholders on Cabinet, Parliamentary and Executive Council related business, through scanning the organisational environment, identifying critical gaps and applying workable solutions. You will be able to negotiate persuasively and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes, while maintaining the team's performance levels in highly pressured and ambiguous situations.
As the Principal Cabinet and Parliamentary Officer, you will hold responsibility for:
Managing the Minister's Cabinet, Executive Council and Parliamentary business, including liaising with relevant government agencies about associated forthcoming business for these forums as it affects the department.Managing the preparation of briefing notes and other documentation for the Minister's participation in Cabinet (including Community Cabinet) meetings, Parliament, and Regional Community Forums, as well as briefing notes on departmental issues for the Premier and the Governor.Providing strategic advice and quality control service on the preparation of Cabinet submissions and Executive Council minutes and Parliamentary documentation (including Questions on Notice and Petitions), to ensure compliance with relevant departmental and government-wide guidelines and procedures.Managing the secure storage, handling and dissemination of Cabinet Submissions and Decisions and Executive Council Minutes in compliance with relevant guidelines.Monitoring and quality controlling all correspondence, Submissions, Briefing Notes, and other material forwarded to the Minister and the Director-General to ensure high quality documents are delivered in a timely manner and that they adhere to standard procedures for the preparation of these documents.Providing high level policy advice and maintaining close liaison with the Offices of the Minister, Director-General and Deputy Directors-General to ensure that any matters referred to the department by the Minister and the Director-General are appropriately addressed.Applications to remain current for 12 months Job Ad Reference: QLD/586743/24 Closing Date: Friday, 6 September 2024 Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.
