The Queensland Government Accommodation Office (QGAO) centrally manages the largest office property portfolio in Queensland, with approximately 1 million square metres of office space, accommodating more than 60,000 public servants and a broad range of property assets including cyclone shelters, parks, bridges, and heritage buildings.

Our Government Employee Housing (GEH) business unit efficiently and actively manages a portfolio of approximately 3000 government employee housing residences to support the delivery of essential frontline services across Queensland.

This role is responsible for implementing the strategic direction of the Government's employee housing portfolio to ensure optimum asset performance over the short to long term.
The role is integral in driving continuous improvements in the management and utilisation of the residential accommodation assets.
What you will be doing:Providing strategic leadership, direction and coordination to a specialist property management team.Developing, implementing and reviewing policies and programs for the effective operation and management of the state government owned residential asset portfolio.Leading and providing strategic direction and expert advice on regional strategies and portfolio planning to meet client agency and departmental requirements.Acting as subject matter expert in strategic asset management knowledge and principles, providing leadership and advice as directed.Ensuring the effective financial control and management of programs and budgets, including property maintenance and capital upgrade programs in support of government priorities.Providing value for money outcomes, advice and recommendations relating to GEH policy and procedures for the residential portfolio.Leading the portfolio's condition assessment and property inspection process to ensure the department's assets are adequately managed and comply with statutory requirements and undertake analysis to identify trends and develop programs to address relevant shortfalls.Managing briefs, submissions, plans, correspondence, reports, research and information papers as required and representing the Department, where requested, in interactions relating to GEH.Liaising, consulting and coordinating with internal and external senior stakeholders to ensure that the residential portfolio meets operational performance requirements that align with objectives.Consulting, negotiating and collaborating across GEH with tenancy and capital teams and contributing actively as a senior member of the asset management team.Establishing and maintaining effective networks of key departmental stakeholders including QBuild teams, Finance and Legal Services.Managing, sorting and analysing data by using (but not limited to) pivot tables, lookups and charts.The skills you will need include being able to:Demonstrated experience in property maintenance and upgrade works management meeting agreed timeframes, budget, quality standards and client satisfaction.Technical expertise in property operations and management with a track record of delivering outcomes.Highly developed written skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.Experience in leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team.Experience in engaging with other government agencies, local governments, industry representatives, and the community.Solid working knowledge of Excel.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
