IPART – Insurance Monitor – Principal Analyst, Insurance Monitor – IPART Officer G · 3-year temporary role in an independent, strategic agency of the NSW Government · Play a leadership role and help build a new team tackling an important consumer protection initiative · Central Sydney location, with flexible working conditions and hybrid working options About the role This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team and make your contribution in an emerging area of consumer protection newly added to IPART's portfolio.
As Insurance Monitor, we will monitor insurers' pricing and conduct during the transition from the emergency services levy (ESL) to a new model for funding the State's emergency services so that the community can have confidence that insurers will remove the ESL from premiums over the transition period.
The Principal Analyst, Insurance Monitor will play a key leadership role, inspiring a team to deliver detailed economic/financial analysis, strategic policy advice, research and analysis on complex technical issues.
You will work with a range of skilled professionals, draw together various perspectives, and coordinate a team of analysts on complex projects to deliver research and technical analysis.
You will drive the delivery of high-quality presentations and reports which translate technical complexity into practical recommendations and insights.
The salary range for the position is $157,088 - $169,170 per annum + superannuation and annual leave loading.
About the team This role is one of several being advertised concurrently to set up the Insurance Monitor team at IPART.
About you We are looking for confident leaders who thrive on delivering outcomes in tight timeframes in novel contexts.
You will be comfortable operating autonomously and inspiring your team, highly efficient at time management, capable of addressing multiple priorities and grappling with unforeseen issues.
You will lead your team to translate technically complex information when explaining recommendations and decisions to stakeholders.
We would highly value previous experience working within the insurance industry, government or relevant advisory roles.

IPART undertakes independent regulatory functions in the water, transport, local government and energy sectors in NSW.

In June 2024, IPART was appointed as the Insurance Monitor under the Emergency Services Levy Insurance Monitor Act 2024 (The Act).
