Principal Ai Engineer

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy AI models, algorithms, and systems that solve complex business problems.
You will be responsible for shaping the technical strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring that AI systems meet the needs of the business while maintaining high standards of governance and quality.
What you'll be doing: Strategy Development: Own and shape the emerging Operational AI strategy, developing a clear vision, road map, and standards for AI solutions across the organisation.Leadership & Decision Making: Lead the technical direction of your squad, reviewing designs, offering guidance, and ensuring high-quality, efficient outcomes.Team Development: Foster the growth of your team through coaching, directing, and delegating tasks, tailoring your approach to individual experience levels.AI Solution Development: Design, research, and operationalise state-of-the-art AI models and systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient in production.Data Insights: Analyse large datasets to derive meaningful insights that support AI model training and business decision-making.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments to integrate AI solutions into products and services, ensuring alignment with business goals and enhancing operational efficiency.Documentation & Reporting: Create detailed documentation, reports, and dashboards to share learning, best practices, and insights within the team and organization.Quality & Risk Management: Uphold a high standard of quality and evidence-based decision-making, ensuring compliance with risk management protocols.Engineering Practices: Champion modern development techniques, including automation, infrastructure as code, and automated testing, to ensure scalability and efficiency.Job DescriptionKey Requirements: Proven experience in AI and machine learning, with a strong track record of developing and deploying operational AI models.Expertise in operationalizing AI systems, with knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, and scaling AI solutions in production environments.Strong leadership skills, including experience in guiding teams, making technical decisions, and fostering collaboration.Experience working with AI frameworks, cloud services, and AI deployment best practices.Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in an Agile environment.Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.A commitment to quality, risk management, and compliance in all technical processes.About LibertyHelping people is in our DNA.
