About the Role Based at our global headquarters in Adelaide, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal AI & Digital Advisor to provide strategic guidance in the development and implementation of AI and digital initiatives that drive long-term business success.
This role will work closely with the senior leadership team and business stakeholders to develop a 3–5-year roadmap of AI-driven transformation projects focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing customer experience.
As the Principal, you will play a key role in guiding the organisation through its AI and digital journey, ensuring alignment with overall business goals, and delivering measurable results.
You will drive innovation, mentor teams, and lead the adoption of emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Key accountabilities include: Lead the formation of a cross-functional, collaborative team of experts and leaders from the business to define, prioritize, and execute AI & Digital transformation initiatives aligned with strategic business objectives.Develop and own the AI & digital roadmap, ensuring it addresses key business needs and is designed to achieve long-term goals, with a clear focus on delivering measurable value.Collaborate with senior business leaders to identify opportunities where AI and digital solutions can enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experiences, and drive new business models.
Advise on emerging AI trends and technologies to inform business strategy.Drive AI innovation by identifying new opportunities to leverage AI and digital technologies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and create competitive advantages.
Lead Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the value of AI initiatives.Oversee the execution of AI and digital initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and provide tangible, measurable business outcomes.Lead the identification and integration of emerging AI and digital technologies that align with business objectives, helping the organization stay ahead of industry developments.Provide mentorship and guidance to internal teams on AI development, digital transformation, and responsible AI practices.
Serve as a thought leader, advocating for AI best practices across the organization.Monitor and report on the ROI of AI and digital initiatives, providing insights to senior stakeholders on the effectiveness of ongoing projects and future opportunities.Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and all corporate governance and safety requirements.
About You Extensive experience in technology leadership and or advisory level roles, with a focus on AI, digital transformation, data science, or related fields.Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic roadmaps for AI and digital transformation.Extensive experience in project delivery, including hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing AI and digital solutions in a business setting.Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying AI and digital solutions at scale in cloud-based environments.Deep knowledge of emerging technologies and their integration into broader digital transformation efforts.Experience advising across multiple industries, understanding the unique needs of business units and delivering tailored AI and digital solutions.Proven ability to drive innovation by identifying new trends in AI, machine learning, and digital technologies, and turning them into actionable business initiatives. Ideally, you will be degree qualified in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science and or related field.
