The Principal role in the Energy team plays a key role in various financial, commercial and energy industry analysis, research and communication activities to support delivery of client funding and government policy outcomes, working across a variety of projects.
The Energy team is part of the Government-Owned Corporations (GOC) portfolio, which collaborates with GOC clients and Central Agencies to deliver exceptional outcomes. Your work in the energy sector and energy transition will directly contribute to better financial sustainability, risk management and financial and economic outcomes for your clients, stakeholders and Queensland.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities Strong understanding and use of problem solving and analytical techniques, delivered with high attention to detail. Deliver strategic, commercial and evidence-based advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding a wide variety of energy industry issues. In doing so, employ tailored communication – verbal and written – to stakeholders. Take a lead role in self and team development, demonstrating progression of development and willingness to take on stretch opportunities. Develop and grow energy industry expertise of self and junior team members. Support the Government Owned Corporations portfolio and Energy team to deliver excellent client outcomes. Corporate finance, financial modelling, identification of commercial and financial risks. Identify issues, research and synthesise data to identify high value insights. Lead and develop junior team members. Communicate key issues succinctly, including to executive-level audiences. Behavioural

Demonstrates inclusive behaviours and provides feedback to support and coach others where required. Qualifications Essential
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. finance, accounting, economics. Experience Essential
Minimum 8 years employment experience in roles that demonstrate overall competency. Experience in areas such as corporate finance, infrastructure banking, due diligence, equity research. Critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose situations and develop creative solutions. Excellent report writing, financial analysis and PowerPoint skills. Engaging and persuasive communication style. Desirable
Familiarity with and prior work in Australia's electricity industry and/or infrastructure financing. Familiarity with energy market modelling (e.g., PLEXOS or similar tools).
