We have an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leader to join our Communities and Social Performance (CSP) Area of Expertise (AoE) in Rio Tinto's Technical CSP function.
It provides support to the business to build respectful and trusted partnerships that deliver sustainable improvements in social and economic outcomes.
We are looking for a  Principal Advisor, Social Investment Australia  to join our CSP AoE and support effective social investment and performance across our national footprint.
This role is a great opportunity for a social investment/development expert to support the establishment, refinement and execution of strategic social investment partnerships in support of the Rio Tinto businesses across Australia, with the objective of continuously improving our social performance and long-lasting benefit with host communities.

An Indigenous leader in this role will play a key part in guiding culturally informed approaches and driving sustainable outcomes across Australia.
Reporting to the Practice Lead – Social Investment Australia, and as a valued member of the global Social Impact team, you will: Contribute to RT's global social investment transformation including implementation of the Social Investment for Impact strategy and framework, engaging and collaborating with Assets, Product Groups and business functions in delivering social investment connected to outcomes.
Be a proven development thought leader with the ability to demonstrate culturally appropriate outcomes and change at scale.
Be accountable for the strategy, implementation and performance of our strategic social investment programme – Culture, Heritage and Place – within our national portfolio, including working collaboratively with other AoE team members, functions and Asset-teams for maximum impact.
Bring extensive experience in partnership design and development evaluation methodologies , delivering maximum outcomes and demonstrable impact in complex social challenges.
Have a proven ability to deliver/facilitate co-design processes with Indigenous stakeholders /communities.
Have a deep understanding of risk management processes and proven track record in practical application of risk, analysis-informed strategy development and evidence-informed decision-making.
What you'll bring A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team, and to our values of care, courage and curiosity Degree level qualifications in a social science or related discipline Good understanding of the interconnectedness of social, cultural and economic challenges and opportunities.
Broad experience in designing and managing partnerships with Indigenous organisations and/or people Broad business acumen contributing to your ability to develop effective business cases for investment decisions.
Effective influencing skills when engaging with senior leaders internally and externally Ability to build and maintain strong and trusted relationships and work in a networked organization to achieve results Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a flexible environment and as an enabler of change Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline Extensive experience demonstrated in delivering successful social investment / outcomes and partnerships, with experience across different sectors and contexts desirable.
