Queensland Corrective Services (Organisation site)Corporate - Sentence and Case Management Services; Specialist Operations; BrisbaneThe Principal Advisor, Serious Offenders Group (SOG) will provide advice regarding the standards and principles related to sentence management practices and legislative compliance for prisoners who fall within the Serious Offenders Group cohort; specifically, prisoners referred for and subject to management under a Maximum-Security Order and prisoners who are high risk, high harm and meet the thresholds for SOU management.Ensure continued alignment with evidence based best practice and organisational priorities for the highest risk prisoner cohorts.Contribute to and oversee initiatives pertaining to the development and implementation of legislation, policies, procedures, and standards for MSAT and SOU.Oversee quality assurance, corporate governance and auditing activities to ensure compliance with policy frameworks and legislation.Prepare high quality written communication including briefing notes and correspondence in accordance with departmental guidelines and within set timeframes.Provide high level timely advice to senior management regarding factors, trends and issues which may impact on service delivery and organisational outcomes.Represent MSAT and/or SOU in a range of decision-making forums including intradepartmental, interdepartmental and community-based meetings for the highest risk prisoner cohorts.Initiate, develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders which may have competing priorities while meeting SMS and SOG objectives.Complete detailed requests for legal advice relating to complex offender management scenarios.Oversight of amendments and updates to the Custodial Operations Practice Directives (COPD) and identification and liaison with stakeholders regarding Reporting Services updates and IOMS enhancements.Manage own workload and negotiate priorities for the completion of work within a complex and dynamic environment.Provide support and guidance to the workload and practices of staff within MSAT and SOU.Demonstrate a knowledge of human resource practices and an ability to mentor staff to achieve results.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/606731/24Closing Date: Tuesday, 24th December 2024Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
