Policy, Planning & Regulation, Government - State (Government & Defence)As the Principal Advisor, you will be responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of policies and strategies that contribute to a safe, accessible, efficient, and sustainable public transport system in Queensland. This role is set against a fast-paced, ever-evolving backdrop, where agility, adaptability, and prioritisation are crucial to success. As a direct report to the Manager (Regulatory Policy), you will be entrusted with various crucial functions:The preparation and development of complex documents and correspondence that provide advice or information to the Queensland Government, other departmental staff, key stakeholders, and members of the public as required. This may include developing Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, reports, presentations, action plans and strategic policy and research papers.Build, maintain and support internal and external relationships to ensure stakeholders are engaged and consulted appropriately.Use stakeholder management skills to communicate, negotiate, liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders to deliver passenger transport policy outcomes.Undertake specialised research and analysis, as well as consultation relating to regulatory, safety and accessibility issues within the context of passenger transport services in Queensland.Provide expert, evidence-based and customer-centric advice to senior management, all levels of government (local, state, and federal), internal/external agencies, industry, and the community.Interpret and apply legislation for passenger transport related issues to consider these requirements when developing policy and providing advice.About You:To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate skills and experience in the following:Experience in leading and contributing to policy research, development and analysis, and legislative reform processes including experience interpreting and analysing legislation.Experience in providing strategic, evidence-based, outcome-focused policy advice.Highly developed time management and project management skills with an ability to manage small to medium size projects and programs.Experience in stakeholder engagement including an understanding of co-design.Excellent communication and relational skills to deliver complex information clearly and to work effectively with key stakeholders.Experience in drafting a range of governmental documents to senior levels of government and industry, such as cabinet submissions, briefings, reports, options papers, and sensitive correspondence.Experience working in public transport policy will be highly valued but is not required to perform well in the role.Applications to remain current for 12 months.The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is a diverse organisation made up of more than 11,500 employees representing 80 occupational groups across Queensland.
