Principal Advisor

Key Duties and Responsibilities:The Principal Advisor Key Responsibilities are:Prepare high level strategic advice to departmental senior executives, including the Deputy Director-General, Director-General, and the Minister.Prepare strategic advice and recommendations for policy and program reform for key issues affecting older people including elder abuse prevention and intervention, social isolation and the administrative oversight of the cards, concessions and rebates schemes.Prepare a range of written materials that support advice to government, including correspondence, briefing material, and information papers concerned with the initiatives delivered by the work area.Support the implementation and evaluation of An Age-friendly Queensland: The Queensland Seniors Strategy 2024-2029 and associated action plan that enhances Queensland as an age-friendly state.Engage with service delivery partners to inform current state and future needs to identify and plan program reform.Oversight the administration of an effective cards and concessions system for older Queenslanders and other vulnerable Queenslanders on low or fixed incomes.Lead or support engagement with older people and stakeholders, including Seniors Expos, seniors saving pop-up events, forums with targeted cohorts of older people.Support positive relationships with stakeholders including other government agencies and non-government service providers.Contribute to building and maintaining the culture of the work area to support the Department's values.Delegations:The position does not hold human resource and financial delegations.
