Principal – Explosives Category Lead our end to end explosives category management Join an organisation with global footprint Based in Perth About the role: As Principal, Explosives you will have an opportunity to work to imbed best practice blasting services with leading edge technology in one of the world's leading mining companies.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Manager, Global Energy, the Principal will lead a highly capable team of specialists in executing portfolio strategy in the global explosives space.
This includes developing projects aimed at improving safety, controlling costs and generating continuous improvement initiatives intended to keep Rio Tinto at the leading edge of explosives innovation and mine efficiency.
Blasting decarbonisation will be an important additional objective.
The role requires: Accountability for end-to-end Explosives category management, and with your team, directly responsible for strategy development, business intelligence, contract management and relationship management for their respective sub-categories.
Responsibility for building highly functioning and engaged internal relationships by deploying business partnering principles to improve customer centricity, whilst also partnering with external suppliers to develop mutually rewarding relationships and unlocking innovation and advancing ESG principles.
Embedding a holistic and robust approach to safety, security, risk, change and project management across your assigned portfolio ensuring that all material risks are identified and have an audit and assurance program in place.
Ensuring initiatives are implemented in accordance with Rio Tinto's governance requirements.
This includes contract governance, expiries and renewals, negotiations, variations, and deviations, performance management and contract implementation.
Coaching and development of your team, to continually improve functional capabilities in order to deliver best total value outcomes for Rio Tinto.
This includes staying current on best practices (procurement, portfolio and category) and proactively looking to increase the velocity of delivery through optimised and technology enabled processes while strengthening controls.
