Specialised Clinical Services (SCS) is a unit within Specialist Operations (SO), Queensland Corrective Services (QCS), and is integral to the Queensland Government's commitment to a safe, caring and connected community.
SCS contributes to the Agency's overarching responsibility to community safety through the provision of specialised assessment, intervention and reporting services for prisoners who are identified as fitting into one or more of the following cohorts: high harm, mental health needs, complex needs.
To oversee the governance processes for psychological and counselling services and interventions in correctional centres and regions including in relation to vulnerable prisoners and those identified as being at risk of suicide or self-harm.
TARGETED VACANCY - There are no mandatory qualifications for this position however tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Criminology, Social Work or a related discipline will be highly regarded. The Essential Requirements for this role are: List the capability and attributes being assessed againstExperience working within a criminal justice environment, particularly within either a custodial or community-based correctional environmentDetailed and current knowledge of Government and Agency directions, objectives, policies and procedures, as well as a sound knowledge of relevant legislative and statutory requirements, particularly within offender management frameworksSupports strategic direction through understanding, supporting and promoting QCS's vision and objectives.A working knowledge of the assessment, management and treatment of offenders considered high harm/complex needs which may include those who have engaged in, or may engage in violent, sexual, extremist or fixated related offendingResearch and analytical skills for investigating issues and analysing and reporting on trends associated with offender management and continued business frameworks and practicesInterpersonal skills for effective negotiations with internal and external decision makers and key stakeholders, who often have competing interests, on sensitive and complex issuesOrganisational skills with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlines in a complex and changeable environmentDisplays personal drive and integrity, challenging issues constructively and self-evaluatingCommunicates clearly and with influence, anticipating stakeholder needs and negotiates confidently.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
