Principal Adviser, Recovery Support Program (within Emergency Management) Full time, Fixed term until 30 June 2025 Attractive VPS 6 salary between $ 130,673 - $174,869 + superannuation DJCS Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.
Emergency Recovery Victoria - What does the business unit do? Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state relief, and state and regional recovery coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger. ERV is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency. As well as providing strategic leadership on whole-of-government recovery activities and delivering state recovery outcomes, ERV supports locally led recovery efforts to support councils and ensure that community is at the centre of recovery.
What will the role do? The Principal Adviser is a critical role within the Regional Recovery Operations and Programs Division of ERV. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Recovery Support Program and is responsible for providing timely advice on social recovery programs, with a focus on the Recovery Support Program, to contribute to the design, commissioning, coordination and delivery of services by ERV.
As a Principal Adviser, you will liaise closely across ERV, other Victorian Government and Commonwealth agencies, local government, the community services sector and stakeholders. You will support the delivery of the recovery programs and initiatives through your well-developed skills in policy analysis, program design, stakeholder engagement and communication.
This is a key strategic role that will collaborate across all levels of government, community service organisations to support community-led social recovery to individuals, communities and regions.
Key aspects of the role include:
Lead and coordinate the Recovery Support Program to support the wellbeing and psychosocial recovery of people affected by emergency events. Collaborate with other senior managers within the Regional Recovery Operations and Programs Division to solve problems and ensure programs meet the needs of disaster affected communities. What skills and knowledge should the Principal Adviser, Recovery Support Program have? As our ideal candidate, you will have:
Relevant experiences in humanities/human services. A strong understanding of the processes and levers that apply to government. Experience in disaster recovery is desirable.  A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in humanities/human services or similar is desirable.
