The RoleThe position requires a person who is a competent driver with the ability to work efficiently without direct supervision whilst outside the depot. A sound knowledge of freight handling is essential.
The position carries a responsibility for all aspects of Road Transport Rules and Regulations which should be conducted in a competent, safe and law abiding manner with due consideration to an efficient and service-oriented environment.
To complete any local cartage job as delegated by your supervisor in the time frame as requested in a safe and efficient manner whilst maintaining accurate documentation. To be flexible and assist as a forklift operator if appropriate
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Carry out within set time-frames all instructions.
Correct, secure and safe loading of vehicles.
Report all damages, faulty equipment or accidents.
Conduct and present yourself in an appropriate manner while at client's premises.
Pay particular attention to the mechanical and safe use of all equipment.
Check vehicle before start up as per checklist.
Trucks should be refueled each day.
Interior of the truck should be kept clean and tidy at all times and the exterior to be washed when dirty.
Whilst driving the vehicle obey all legislative requirements.
Be punctual for the start of work and for lunch and fatigue breaks. These must be strictly adhered to.
Present yourself for work in a clean and tidy uniform.
When and if operating a forklift, you must complete a pre-shift inspection.
Comply with the conditions of entry at all depots and business premises.
Be aware of and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures on Occupational and Health and Safety relating to your position, and assist the company it its goals towards certification to Australian Standards.
Look after and secure any equipment supplied with your vehicle in line with legislation.
Driver run sheet, log book & daily pre start checklist must be filled out correctly and handed in at the end of each day and include a debrief.
Meet agreed time-frames for all the local cartage.
Respect and look after the equipment in your control.
Lock your vehicle at the end of the day and clean your air tanks.
Ensure delivery windows are achieved, and any delays are notified to your supervisor as soon as practicable.
